The MDTLA’s focus this past year was to bring its members closer to the community and to bring the community to its members. I’m proud to say that the MDTLA has continued its service traditions, and added others this year.
The MDTLA and its member firms continued to sponsor monthly dinners at Chapman Partnership. Each month more (and new) members not only funded the dinners, but took the time to don a hair net and apron, serve food, and help the people in transition within our community.
The MDTLA continued its involvement with the Overtown Youth Center. The MDTLA sponsors a student at the Center, and we worked on expanding the scholarships offered by member firms. We also sponsored a Career Skills Day at the Center. MDTLA members donated business attire, which was tailored to fit the Center’s ninth and tenth graders, and worked on developing the students' resumes and improving their job interview skills. At the close of the day, one of the students asked a very rewarding question: "When will we be back?" Hopefully the MDTLA will be back every spring.
Despite the challenges of a difficult economy, the MDTLA and its members found the time to get out into the community.
For that, I thank you.
